Ideogram 4.5, Ideogram 4.0 and Ideogram Vector

Ideogram is the Toronto company, founded by former Google Brain researchers, that made legible text in images its speciality. Its raster models include Ideogram 4.5, the 30 September release built around precise, repeatable edits, and Ideogram 4.0, its first with open weights. Both have results from our fixed prompt set. Ideogram 4.5 Precise Edit, launched on 29 October 2026, edits one window of a photo up to 8192 by 8192 at its original pixels; it has its own page with three before-and-after edits. Ideogram Vector adds SVG generation from text and conversion from an existing image; our twelve medium-quality text-to-vector fixtures produced native SVGs, with a correct logo wordmark and infographic but an inaccurate chart. The separate conversion endpoint remains untested.

Frequently asked questions

Is Ideogram free?

The app has a free plan with a daily allowance, and the 4.0 weights are free to download. 4.5's weights are not out yet, and the API is paid.

What changed in Ideogram 4.5?

It is built for editing: a precise mode restores every pixel outside the change, so an image can be edited many times without drifting. Generation is priced per image by quality rather than per megapixel, and in our tests its type was correct even at the cheapest tier.

What is Ideogram Precise Edit?

An edit endpoint on Ideogram 4.5, upgraded on 29 October 2026 with a context window: it edits an area of up to 2048 by 2048 pixels inside an image of up to 8192 by 8192 and returns the image at its own size with the rest as sent. It costs $0.008 to $0.22 an image by quality.

What changed in Ideogram 4.0?

It is the first Ideogram model with open weights, adds structured JSON prompts and 2K output, and keeps the text rendering the family is known for.

What is Ideogram Vector?

A separate SVG model with two fal routes: text-to-vector generates from a prompt, optionally with references, and image-to-vector converts existing artwork. Generation starts at $0.13 per SVG and conversion costs $0.10. We have not run it yet.
