Grok Imagine models, and what replaces Pro
Grok Imagine is xAI's image and video feature in the X app and at grok.com, and the name of its image models on the API. Grok Imagine 2.0 is the current default; the original 2025 Grok Imagine remains on the API at two cents an image. xAI retired Grok Imagine Pro on 2 November 2026: requests to grok-imagine-image-quality and grok-imagine-image-pro now run as Grok Imagine 2.0 at low quality, at a lower per-image price, with no request changes needed. The pages below keep the same twelve prompts, including Pro's historical results, plus Grok Imagine Video 1.5 and its low-cost Lite tier.

Is Grok Imagine free?
Mostly not. Since March 2026 it has been a paid X feature, with free accounts getting small, intermittent allowances. The API and hosts charge per image from $0.02.
